Emily Tedone of U.S. Disability Group helped a young man with disabilities who had been denied Social Security Supplemental Income despite his long history of cognitive impairments, poor memory, depression, anxiety and other conditions. He had not finished high school and was unable to read and write. His inability to work and his lack of income made it difficult for him to get health care and medications, and he often was homeless. His case manager and an attorney at Community Legal Services helped him get access to health care and housing and spent many hours obtaining medical records and preparing documentation of his disabilities.
The volunteer attorney was successful in appealing his Social Security case, so he now receives $735 in SSI each month to help him meet his basic life needs.

PURPLE STRIDE - PAN-CANCER 2019
Purple Stride Phoenix 2019 was a powerful and inspiring day for Zorica & Nicole at USDG. Since 2008, PurpleStride has been the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network’s most powerful vehicle for fundraising and awareness. Each year, in more than 50 PurpleStride events across the country, survivors, families, researchers, caregivers and others touched by pancreatic cancer come together to rewrite the future of this deadly disease.
Together, we've raised more than $101 million for pancreatic cancer research and patient services through community events from 2008 to 2017. But the true impact of our work together is measured in progress, not dollars. The five-year survival rate has increased by three percentage points since 2014 and is now 9 percent.
Purple ribbons don’t rewrite the future of pancreatic cancer. You do!
